21+1 LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT

From the case of Alexander the Great, current and future executives can learn valuable lessons for the development of their leadership qualities and abilities. They can be taught the way in which he evolved having Aristotle as his main teacher. They can also learn his roles, functions, actions and practices that constituted his effective and successful leadership. Finally, they can draw on his leadership style and other characteristics of his leadership behaviour, such as sensitivity to people, integrity, humility. Leonidas Georgiadis’ book, with clarity and comprehensiveness, develops all the very useful lessons that modern executives of business, public, social and political organizations need to learn in order to improve their effectiveness in exercising leadership for the common good, according to Aristotle, that is, their own, their people’s and, more broadly, society’s. Being quite familiar with the global and Greek literature on management and leadership, I believe that this book is an important contribution to it.
